Water is one of the most important nutrients for humans' survival and sustenance, but the unavailability is alarming as over 86 percent of Nigerians lack access to a safely managed drinking water source.

Sustainable and equitable access to safe drinking water remains a challenge in Nigeria, this problem also contributes to high morbidity and mortality rates among children under five. The use of contaminated drinking water and poor sanitary conditions result in increased vulnerability to water-borne diseases, including diarrhea which leads to deaths of more than 70,000 children under five annually.

Over four-decade, the people and community of the Agbangwe community, Edumoga District in Okpokwu Local Government of Benue state have suffered the issues of poor water supply. Making them walk over 10km in search of water, the only season where the case is different is during raining season (winter) where the stream has a constant water supply and dwellers store up water in their containers whenever it rains. After several attempts of provision of equitable access to water, sanitation, and hygiene services and ensuring the sustainability of water services in rural communities through the drilling of the borehole. In 2020 the dream came through a borehole facility was provided by Mcray Victus Foundation that serves the entire community and its environs.
